As you may have noticed, my philosophy blog has recently undergone some big changes.
Name Change
Christopher Roberts Philosophy Blog was quite a mouthful to say and wasn’t very catchy, so I felt a new title was needed. My blog is primarily about philosophy and thoughts, so why not call it just that: Philosophy and Thoughts? It perfectly describes the blog and rolls off the tongue much better!
The old slogan Your daily dose of philosophy! has also been replaced with Contemplation, reflection and inspiration. I am also using Thoughts and musings on philosophy and life as another slogan. They both work well, so I am using two!
New Logo
With the name change came a new logo.
Like the old name, I felt the logo was dated and too complicated.
Below to the left is my blogs (Christopher Roberts Philosophy Blog) old logo, on the right is the new one – Philosophy and Thoughts. I feel the new logo is much better; it is simple and clean and goes a long way to describing the blog and its content, with just a picture and three words.
I like it and it works for me. 🙂
Speed
As well as the recent branding changes, I have made efforts to improve the speed of the site. A delayed load has been applied to images and social buttons, so images only load when you scroll down (the page) to them – improving the initial page load time – and social buttons only load when you mouse over them.
Social
Philosophy and Thoughts has a new Facebook page, which you can find by going to Facebook.com/PhilosophyAndThoughts, or just check out the lazy loading link hidden under Facebook’s logo on the sidebar. Every post from the blog will be added to the page, and I hope that for thoughts for the day I will be able to add the thought itself to the page, so you can view the thought/reflection on Facebook. I may also add other things of interest from time to time.
The old Facebook like button at the top of each article has been removed and there are now three new social buttons, which only load when you mouse over them. You can now not only like, but also tweet and recommend articles via Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus. 🙂
You can now also find Philosophy and Thoughts on about.me.
Hopefully you like the changes, I feel it is a positive change for the blog, and hope it will breath new life into it – as I haven’t been posting much of late!
Thanks for sticking around, lets see where Philosophy and Thoughts goes. 🙂
